"New Hamburgh Churches"
New Hamburg had three churches:
- Presbyterian (left in photo) - originally located on the hill overlooking Wappingers Creek, it was moved down to Main Street near the train station because horses and carriages had trouble coming down
the hill on icy days. After its days as a church, the steeple was removed by the New Hamburg Fire Dept. It is now a private residence.
- Episcopal (center in photo) - St. Nicholas-on-the-Hudson at 37 Point St. is currently the only active church in New Hamburg.
- Methodist (right in photo) - The only New Hamburg church with a bell in the bell tower, it is now a private residence. The owner rings the bell on Sunday for the Episcopal church.
